59% of voters believe Democrats ran the economy “straight into the ground”, poll finds

A recent poll from Rasmussen Reports found that 59% of U.S. Likely Voters believe the Democrats ran the economy “straight into the ground”.

The survey from Rasmussen Reports asked respondents if they agreed with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s statement late last month that “Democrats inherited an economy that was primed for an historic comeback, and promptly ran it straight into the ground.”

59% of the respondents said they agreed with the statement that “Democrats inherited an economy that was primed for an historic comeback, and promptly ran it straight into the ground.”

38% of Democrats surveyed said they agreed with McConnell’s statement.

Only 35% of respondents said they disagreed with the statement that “Democrats inherited an economy that was primed for an historic comeback, and promptly ran it straight into the ground.”

The survery also asked respondents whether or not the U.S. economy was in a recession. 

Rasmussen Reports found that 62% of the respondents said they believed the U.S. was currently in a recession. While only 23% said they did not believe the U.S. was in a recession and 15% responded that they were not sure.

Additionally, nearly half of Democrats surveyed (47%) said the U.S. is currently in a recession.
