In a tweet, Twitter announced that “after close review of recent Tweets from” the President of the United States the company has “permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

World leaders, such as Sayyid Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, have not been suspended from the platform, even though they have made threats on the platform.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called for the genocide of the Israeli people on his Twitter account which still remains up today.

Twitter qualified the tweets as “comments on current affairs.”
