The Conservatives have consistently called for Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government to ban Huawei Technologies from taking any role in advancing and developing the infrastructure for Canada’s 5G network.

Conservatives in parliament have long argued that Huawei Technologies ever being involved in Canada’s development of its 5G network would be a risk to Canadians, arguing that China may use its 5G products to more easily spy on Canadians.

Additionally, leaders in Canada’s military said that using Huawei would pose too large of a security risk to allow it into Canada’s 5G network,

Other countries, including the United States, Britain, and Australia have taken steps to avoid using Chinese products like Huawei’s to develop 5G networks.
