“In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party”, Musk wrote in a Tweet published on Wednesday afternoon.

“But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican”, he added.

“Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold …”, Musk wrote with a popcorn emoji.

“Elon Musk, the guy who makes electric cars, is now a Republican. That’s how nonsensical these Democrat policies have gotten under Joe Biden”, Troy Nehls, a TX-22 Congressman & Fmr. FBC Sheriff wrote in response to the Tweet.

A few days ago, Musk announced he would be voting for the Republican Party for the first time.

His announcement comes amidst historically low approval ratings for Democratic President Joe Biden, as the country is stuck in an inflation spiral and faces critical issues such as a rampant baby formula shortage.

The news also comes as every single day last week the U.S. experienced record-breaking gas prices which are starting to affect consumers.

Despite the Democrat’s efforts to make the coming midterm election about abortion, the worsening economic situation is likely to switch many independent and center voters towards the Republican Party.
