His future resignation comes after posting a poll on December 18, 2022, asking users if he should “step down as head of Twitter”, adding that he would “abide by the results of this poll.”

The poll concluded with 57.5% voting ‘yes’ for him to step down, and 42.5% of users voting ‘no’ to stepping down as CEO of Twitter.

In a followup tweet on December 20, Musk said he would resign as the CEO as soon as he finds “someone foolish enough to take the job!”.

Musk added that once he steps down as CEO, he would still stay on to “run the software & servers teams.”
