Google searches for firewood (“Brennholz”) in Germany have exploded in recent months compared to years prior.

Google trends has the search term hitting an “interest over time” score of 100, which Google says represents “search interest relative to the highest point on the chart for the given region and time.”

Adding that “A value of 100 is the peak popularity for the term. A value of 50 means that the term is half as popular.”

In the last 12 months, the popularity of the search term hovered around 20-30 in popularity, initially peaking in March with a 51 score.

However, at the beginning of June 2022, the term began to start exploding in search popularity, peaking in top popularity in July 2022.

In July 2022, the popularity of the search term hit a 100 score.

Since July, the term has remained elevated at a score above 50.

The southern region of Germany is where the search term appears to be the most popular and remains in the high popularity scores, according to Google Trends.

Another term that has received popularity in recent months in Germany is inquiring about the price of firewood in 2022 (“brennholz preise 2022”).

As search inquiries for firewood have soared in Germany, so has the price of natural gas in the region.

In Europe, the price of natural gas has soared through the roof, more than doubling in just one year with an increase of approximately 400%.
