According to Reuters, a proposed class action filed on Wednesday, Christopher Lazazzaro said he would not have bought or would have paid less for Hershey’s Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolate, Lily’s Extra Dark Chocolate 70% Cocoa and Lily’s Extreme Dark Chocolate 85% Cocoa had Hershey disclosed their metals content.
Lazazzaro sued the company two weeks after it was revealed that Hershey’s along with 27 other dark chocolate bars had lead and cadmium in them.
The scientific testing Consumer Reports conducted found that “ some dark chocolate bars contain cadmium and lead—two heavy metals linked to a host of health problems in children and adults.”
They state that they “recently measured the amount of heavy metals in 28 dark chocolate bars” and “detected cadmium and lead in all of them.”
