More than 2,000 flights canceled on Monday; 6,000 over Christmas holiday

According to flight tracker FlightAware, more than 2,000 flights globally have been canceled on Monday, December 27.

So far today at the time of reporting, 2,728 flights have been canceled globally.

Of the 2,728 flights canceled, 1,083 flights were “within, into, or out of the United States”. 

On December 26, global flight cancellations were 3,274 with 1,517 of those being “within, into, or out of the United States”. 

During the Christmas holiday time, more than 6,000 flights were canceled between December 24 and 26. 

Last week, United Airlines said they had to cancel hundreds of flights due to crew shortages.

“The nationwide spike in Omicron cases this week has had a direct impact on our flight crews and the people who run our operation.” a United memo said obtained by CNN.
