A new Mainstreet Research poll conducted from March 13 to 15, 2022 shows that the Quebec Conservative Party is gaining ground at the expense of the premier Legault’s party, the Coalition Avenir Quebec (CAQ).

On October 19, 2021, the Legault government announced it would permanently ban oil and gas exploitation and exploration on its territory. 

Following a $100 million incentive prize funded by the Elon Musk Foundation to whoever can best solve carbon capture problems, industry players in Alberta are stepping up to the challenge. 

They cancelled the Saguenay LNG project, a multibillion-dollar project that would have brought thousands of high-paid jobs to where they are very much needed. The decision on the surface was because of global environmental risks but sadly ensures global emissions will be higher.

LNG Quebec is the subject of much discussion, especially in recent days. The Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement, whose mission is to evaluate the impacts of the project, submitted its report to Environment Minister Benoit Charette on March 10. The Minister still has a few days to make it public.
