Trudeau to unveil ‘assault-style’ weapons buy back program today

The Liberal government is expected to unveil its plans for a buy back program for “assault-style” weapons, the CBC is reporting.

Last May, Justin Trudeau announced the ban on the use, sale, and importation of more than 1,500 makes and models. The reported program will include a voluntary program that financially compensates gun owners who give up their banned weapons. 

The plan is set to be unveiled on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. ET.
