Locals in the area extinguished the fire before it could spread.

Initially, Stephen Leader was released from police custody with no charges. After completing their investigation and sending their findings to the B.C. Prosecution Service, Stephen Leader was given a single charge of arson.

In the video taken by a local resident, Stephen Leader can be seen walking through the wooded area, lightening an object on fire and tossing it into the woods.
